According to someone on the internet, Cable costs an average of $89.29/month or over $1000/year. Here is how I heavily reduce that cost through subscriptions:
Make use of your local Library:
– Libby allows you to rent audiobooks and ebooks.
– Hoopla also offers music / movie / television streaming.
– Kanopy offers movie / television streaming
Free Streaming:
– Pluto
– Tubi
– Roku
– Crackle
– Sling FreeStream
– MyFree DirecTV
Google Rewards:
Mobile app that allows you to fill out surveys / submit receipts for Google Play Credits, which you can then use to pay for subscriptions like Youtube Premium, Disney Plus, or HBO Max. You can also typically ‘cancel’ your subscription right away if you only want to use it for a month and not worry about forgetting to cancel later.
Free Trials / Black Friday Discounts:
The majority of streaming services offer free trials or deals during Black Friday for even steeper discounts allowing your Google Rewards credits to go further.
Rotate Subscriptions:
I typically binge a paid subscription for a month to catch up on shows, then move on to the next so I am only “paying” for one service at a time.
Extra Cashback:
If you do end up having to pay for a subscription, ShopBack (Referral Link) or Rakuten (Referral Link) will often provide extra cashback on your initial purchase.
